Ancho chillies are dried poblano peppers.
Ancho chilies are widely used in mexican cuisine. They have a slightly fruity sweet flavour compared to other chillies and rich aroma. They can be used as is, pureed or soaked for 15-20 minutes.
Each 100g contains between 7 and 12 Chillies depending on the size of each chilli. This is why it is best to buy by weight.
